Progress + How to get a sketch

Hello.

In my #drawmyfollowers project, I’m drawing my first 3,000 Twitter followers.

There has been a completely unexpected amount of media attention so far. From interviews on social media websites, being mentioned in a podcast in America, and even the offer of a live stream to Australian TV. It’s been incredibly fun, and it’s great to be part of a project bigger than myself.

I have just hit 600 drawings. My aim is to draw 1,500 by Christmas. Easy.

I expect this project to span a few more weeks, and I have lots of big ideas for when I’m done, like publishing a book with you all in, and a website to showcase all your drawings. But that’s for another blog post…

There are many people who are NOT in the 3,000 that are asking for sketches, some even offering me payment to do it. A lot of you have suggested that I set up a donations button for people who aren’t in the 3,000 but want to be part of the #drawmyfollowers project.

So for those of who aren’t in the 3,000 but would still REALLY want me to sketch you, you could buy me a coffee, or some new pens, for £3 here:

Then once I’ve finished drawing the 3,000, you’ll get a drawing too. If you’re willing to pay for a sketch, that’s incredibly kind of you. If not, I hope you stay and watch the results. Either way, I appreciate it.

If you’re in the 3,000, I hope to get to you SOON. Thank you to everyone who has encouraged me, interviewed me, blogged about the project and retweeted me; I appreciate it a lot. (Perhaps we can get #drawmyfollowers trending one day?) (And those of you putting your sketches as your profile pictures, that’s awesome!)

All the best,

Greg Burney,
